How to Prepare for your Floral Design Meeting with T Villager Designs

How well a bride is prepared for her meeting with a florist sets the stage for a thorough and focused discussion and allows the bride and the florist to discuss the vision and make good decisions.

Here is a short list of things you can do before your meeting:

  • Create a Pinterest board. If possible, categorize your board in sections for personal flowers, ceremony flowers, cocktail hour flowers and reception flowers. Also, try to be consistent with the styles, colors, etc.

  • If possible, have a photo of your wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses. If you don’t have those it’s very helpful if you know what the color of the gown and dresses will be. In addition, it’s helpful to know what color the groom and groomsmen will be wearing.

  • Prior to the meeting, send an itemized list of everything you will need for flowers, i.e., bridal bouquet, groom boutonniere, number of bridesmaids, number of groomsmen, flower girl/girls, ring bearer, corsages needed (mothers, grandmothers, etc.), boutonnieres needed in addition to groom and groomsmen (fathers, grandfathers, officiant, etc).

  • Ceremony needs such as a decorated arbor or arch, large floral arrangements, etc, aisle markers, welcome sign, guest book table or anything else that might be needed.

  • Cocktail reception needs such as arrangements for cocktail tables, seating chart for reception, etc. Reception needs such as estimated number of tables needed, i.e., head table (how long), sweetheart table, guest round tables or guest long rectangular tables, high arrangements or low arrangements on tables, bar arrangements, etc.

Again, this might not be an all inclusive list but it gives the florist some good ideas on items you’ll be needing for your wedding. All these will be discussed in either a formal sit down meeting or a ZOOM call.
