Fall Wedding Trends

It’s that time of year again where we get to sit down with a few of our designers and talk about current trends going into a new season! We are all so crazy for fall events and weddings here in Nashville. Feel free to add your own questions to the end of this blog and we will get back to you with our answers :)

1. What is your favorite color when it comes to an Autumn event palette? Why?

ALISON:

“Well, mustard yellow of course! I'm obsessed with it. It's the perfect bright accent to mauve, burgundy, beige, terracotta, and all the usual suspect fall colors. Mustard is the cheerful vintage side of yellow, and I love vintage 70's funky pieces.”

JACK:

“Being a native of East Tennessee and growing up at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, the beauty of orange, red, yellow and rust colors of the trees in the fall will always have my heart! An array of fall leaves, foraged natural items and vibrant florals together make some incredible looks for everything in a wedding from bouquets to statement ceremony pieces to table centerpieces.”

GAYLE:

“Rust and rust-like colors … think Coffee Break Roses, Toffee roses, Safari Sunset Leucodendron, Kangaroo Paws…. It’s still color but it’s softer than full out corals and oranges and reds that shout, “Summer!" To me, Fall is about slowing down and cooling off a bit and these flowers though still full of rich color and texture are more subdued.”

2. Which Nashville event space stands out to you during the fall season?

ALISON:

“I always think of the countryside during fall. Visiting farms that offer apples, pumpkins, cider, and other fun fall activities is the best. Most of those locations offer beautiful rustic barns or pavilions for special events too! I'm always reminded of how fortunate we are to live in Tennessee and enjoy these country amenities!”

JACK:

“We love working at so many different venues in the Nashville area it would be too difficult to even try to name just one. Outdoors or indoors, fall is a time to celebrate and honor nature’s art of color!”

GAYLE:

“I love the Scarritt Bennett Center at Vanderbilt. There’s something about the old stone and brick and that park like setting that seems perfect for fall. Warm colors and rustic textural floral elements work so well with stone and brick!”

3. What trends are exciting you for this upcoming season?

ALISON:

“I'm really excited about continuing to see more houseplants incorporated into floral designs. I look forward to moving out of the bright green summer fronds and into the deep burgundy textured ones. Perhaps Burgundy Ripple Peperomia or Black Magic Begonia would be fun elements into the fall designs. I'm also loving Haus of Stems Bayou Anthrium!”

JACK:

“People are ready to “break out” as much as possible after enduring some difficult times for all. This year we’re doing more painting of florals, creating more dramatic looks and playing off the natural beauty that surrounds us and we’re having a blast! We call it the year of ANYTHING GOES as brides are really reaching for the stars and going outside the box. We love doing any style of wedding and colors but what a time to take things to a whole new level and we’re excited about it!”

GAYLE:

“We have been mixing in unexpected greenery in our designs, and as it turns out, there’s a trend toward increased use of houseplants in floral and event design. I absolutely love bringing in greenery that’s unusual and non-traditional. But…I’m a forager at heart so nothing is off the table for me in terms of trying natural elements, especially foliage whether from the earth or from a pot!”
